*Long post, yapping and ranting ahead*
So my Plastic Love x Pink Pony Club Mashup got hit with a copyright strike. This is the first and only time this has happened to me in my nearly 4 years of making mashups on YouTube, even though this video is functionally no different than any other mashup Iāve made on this channel. YouTubeās music copyright system is so broken and horrendously implemented that I could honestly go on for hours, but in a nutshell it basically runs the videos through a checker each time you upload something and it either detects copyrighted content or it doesnāt. Thereās seemingly no rhyme or reason to how it detects content because Iāve had some mashups be either straight up taken down, unable to be viewed in select countries, simply demonetized with no viewing restrictions, or fully monetized with no issues all from the same checking system even though all my videos function almost identically to each other with the same amount of copyrighted material. Most of the time when my videos get checked, it detects the use of the songs and gives all the ad revenue to the major labels. Given the lane Iām making content in directly involves use of copyrighted songs, Iāve known from the beginning that Iām not going to be making any of my own money from this, and thatās fine. My only goal of this channel is to make fun and interesting mashups for people to enjoy, not to make money off of those artists and certainly not to destroy the market for the original songs. Which on the whole is why I find this situation so frustrating. The way this copyright strike was carried out (and the entire system as a whole) is inconsistent, sloppy, and anti-nuance and creativity regarding use of copyrighted works. Additionally, one more copyright strike means my entire CHANNEL gets nuked, and four years worth of work goes in the trash, a shitty and unjust consequence for, again, a video with nothing that sets it apart from the rest of my content in regards to copyright. The support and love Iāve gotten from everyone over the years has been incredible and beyond anything I could have imagined. Something that started as a hobby for me ended up meaning more to me then I thought it could, and it just sucks to think that all of that could just go to waste any time I upload something. Honestly, putting up with the bullshit of the YouTube copyright system for as long as I have in conjunction with this strike makes it hard to create at all. I have video ideas but Iām hesitant to release them cause one of them could piss YouTube off enough to delete my channel. Itās kinda made me think about whether I can continue doing what I do on here and whether itās really for me anymore. I donāt want every video I make to be a question of whether itās the one that will sink my channel.
Does this mean Iām going to stop making mashups? I donāt know. I still really enjoy making them but I donāt want the process of uploading them to run the risk of deleting my channel when I least expect it, which seems unavoidable. Itās an annoying ass situation. Whatāll probably end up happening is Iāll chill with uploads for a while, and upload more sparsely after a certain point. I have one big ass 10+ megamix planned for December with video editing and everything. But it has a shit ton of copyrighted songs in it (duh), so idk maybe thatāll be my test video to see if I can safely start uploading again. Weāll have to see.

Hi everyone!
I wanted to announce that Iām going to be taking an indefinite hiatus from the channel. I find that I donāt really have the same passion that I used to for creating mashups, and I have too much going on in my life to really make time for these even if I wanted to. Also, I want to focus more on producing my own original music in the future. When that is or if it will be uploaded on this channel, I donāt know yet.
This is of course not to say that Iāll never upload here again. Once I have more time on my hands, maybe my drive will come back. Who knows? Making mashups is something Iāve done consistently for 3 years now and Iāve had so much fun doing it, so I doubt that Iāll never make one again. Iām just bogged down with too many things currently to have the time or energy for it anymore.

Hey guys! Wanted to give yāall an update on whatās next for my channel.
My next big project is a megamix of 2000s music, itāll function a lot like my 10 Years of POP mashup, which was released last March. Check that out if you want.
Since that videoās one year anniversary is coming up, this one will also be released in March. Gonna spend the next few weeks editing it, so stay tuned! Itās a good one :)
I may put out a few smaller videos in between now and then, weāll see.
