Hello everyone, no video tomorrow sadly..
With how things have been trending lately, I'm going to take an extended break. I've been trying my best to stay motivated through it all, but I think it's best I step away from the channel for a bit and take some time to recharge. I'm not interested in content creation if I can't give it 110% of my effort, and it wouldn't be fair to all of you either..
Not sure how long I'll be away for, could be weeks, could be months. It all just depends on how I feel about it over time. But I can promise that I WILL be back at least haha
I will be finishing up the current series of course, I wouldn't want to leave you hanging like that, and then I'll take my leave..
As always, you guys are awesome, and I appreciate all of the support you've given me over the last year or so. I'm grateful that I get to share my Pokémon playthroughs with you all, and I'm looking forward to the day I can come back and start a new adventure..

Hey Guys, just wanted thank everyone for the fantastic feedback as always on my last post. If you guys are cool with how things are, then so am I! In other news, I'm gonna try out some new thumbnails for this series and the next just to try something different. Look out for those soon and let me know what you think!
Finally, we've only got a few(ish) weeks left until the Heart Gold / Soul Silver HC Nuzlocke Walkthrough, and I need help picking our starter for attempt #1.. GO!!

Hello everyone! I've been thinking about something for a while and I'd like to hear your feedback on it. You guys have always been super helpful with your feedback on previous ideas/posts, and I want to make sure I'm doing what's best for the channel.
I've been thinking about moving ALL of the future playthrough videos over to a second channel (probably Grumpy Gengar Plays would be a fitting name), and then keeping any fully scripted list videos, etc. over on this main channel. How do you guys feel about that?
I guess my thinking here is that there's been somewhat of a clash between these types of content being in the same place, and I'm wondering if that's making it awkward for the viewers that want to see one type of content over the other. I'm wondering if both the list/guide/top 10 videos AND the playthrough episodes would reach more people if they were on their own. On the other hand, maybe this just complicates things even further? I'm not sure, but let me know what you guys think!
In any case, I'll see you all tomorrow for Episode 4 of the No Duplicate Types Allowed series!

Hey Guys, episode 4 for the NO Duplicate Types run will be pushed off until this Friday (1/12). Apologies for the delay, I'm afraid there will probably be more of those to come here and there (at least for a little while). I guess having another kid will do that to you haha. Anyways, it's shaping up to be another great episode so far, so hopefully it's worth the wait. I hope everyone had a great holiday! See you Friday!

Hey guys, hope everyone is doing well, especially with the holidays coming up. I've got another channel update to quickly go over, and could perhaps be the most controversial one I've had since the channel released. I'm gonna try not to get into a bunch of nitty gritty details here, I'd rather just get right to the point..
The scripted "non-playthrough" videos (such as list style, tips/tricks, specific guides, YouTube Shorts, etc.) will not be returning for quite a while.. basically no timetable at all for their return.
Over the past couple of months I've been trying to find ways to be more efficient in my entire process while still finding ways to grow and improve my skills as a content creator at the same time. But at this point, I have found that I've optimized everything that I can, and the only thing I actually need now is simply more time. Unfortunately, more time is definitely not going to be on the table for the near future with what I've got going on right now (2nd kid on the way, new house, etc.). I'll be thinking about ways I can go back to that type of content in the distant future, but for now, Grumpy Gengar is pretty much strictly a playthrough channel moving forward.
I'm really proud of all the content I've released so far, and I'm very grateful for the community that has come from it, your support has been incredible... But I wanted to make sure I made this announcement now that I know for sure what the future is for this channel moving forward. Particularly for the people who are here specifically for the YouTube Shorts and scripted list/guide/tips videos. Note: Tier lists still could still be on the table because those are a bit easier to make and follow a very standardized formula as far as editing, recording, etc. BUT they will still take a while to release.
For those who choose not to stick around, I thank you for being a part of the channel, and I hope to see some of you again some day. For everyone else, you guys are the best! And I'm looking forward to the adventures that lie ahead...

Results are in and HGSS pull ahead for the win!
I'm a little bit more familiar with Johto than I am with Unova, so I think this does work out for me a little more with everything else I got going on right now.
For the Black and White fans, don't worry, it won't be another 7-8 months before I get to them. With how close the poll was and how vocal everyone is about both sets of games, I'm going to do the Black and White walkthrough immediately after HGSS. So hopefully you won't have to wait too long!
The next 3 HC Nuzlocke series are now set:
- Platinum with NO Duplicate Types Allowed
- Heart Gold / Soul Silver Walkthrough
- Black / White Walkthrough

More updates! Looks like Platinum with NO Duplicate Types is a go for the next series! I appreciate your votes, AND I have another one for you guys to vote on below so stick around!
I'm going to be pretty busy over the next few months (new baby and possibly closing on our first house) so there will continue to be more playthrough episodes and less scripted videos for the time being. Since that will be case I'd like to speed things up as far as "seasons" go moving forward, by making them a lot smaller in size. I'd like to get through the Walkthroughs for all the other games (gens 1-5) so I can get to a point where I can confidently bounce back and forth between all of them and not just focus on a single generation for very long. Hopefully that will make things more interesting for everyone (including myself)!
With all of that being said, Platinum with NO Duplicate Types will be the final series for DPPt for now, and that of course means I need your help once again! A new Walkthrough series will follow, but for which games? Let me know which you'd like to see first!
