I’m back again! Last night, I attended the jury show for Semi Final 2. I was stood for it and it was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen live. All of the artists delivered, aswell as Kaarija, Helena Paparizou, Sertab, Charlotte Perrelli and Herreys (they’ve still got it!)
Here are my thoughts on the Semi 2 participants:
🇲🇹 I maintain this could still be a shock qualifier, it’s visually VERY impressive on first watch and Sarah is giving it 110%, even 120 if possible. My only issue is how hard they’re going on pushing choreography, even the recap clip is entirely dance breakdown, like they want us to forget about the song a little. Play to your strengths, sure. But it leaves me feeling a tiny bit cold.
🇦🇱 Went down well and she looked stunning! I didn’t think it really went anywhere and still feels like a non qualifier but I can’t fault Besa on this. The ending goes off well.
🇬🇷 I had my Greek flag wrapped around me tonight in full support and she was fantastic but I am slightly underwhelmed, if I’m being completely honest. Her stage presence is incredible but vocally it sounded quiet and a bit shaky. Still a definite qualifier but I think the staging could’ve had a bit more direction and her vocals need more precision. Still one of the best songs of the year though, no doubt.
🇨🇭 Performance of the night, hands down. Handles some tiring staging without the vocals faltering one bit. There’s only one prop but the amount he does with it feels like magic and they really are just a superstar. The vocals are never in doubt, the performance ability is endless and I return to thinking this could still win.
🇨🇿 I think Aiko has come on leaps and bounds but I still think they’ve played the staging wrong. It’s giving Sia when it should’ve been giving Hayley Williams imo - too poppy in staging and not gritty enough. It does look very impressive though and her confidence on stage is top notch. She’s done all she can to give his a chance of qualifying but I don’t think it’ll wind up being enough.
🇫🇷 Still think this could be a dark horse. Everyone was wow’d, the whole arena. So simple but so effective and as expected, the vocals are just killer and second to none.
🇦🇹 She’s nailed this. If you want a pop girlie with a banger of a song and banger of a stage show, look no further. The choreography is nailed, the styling is great. It’s all silver, futuristic and quintessentially Eurovision, but you can’t help screaming YASS at how much she’s got this under control and kills it so naturally. Does exactly what this song needs to perfection.
🇩🇰 I think this still lacks wow. I can’t deny Saba’s vocals and I don’t even mind her stood still the whole time but I don’t think it ever has that moment where your jaw drops or you feel particularly moved. They’ve played it too safe and I think it feels forgettable in between the fun of Austria and Armenia.
🇦🇲 And the award for most likeable performer of the year goes to… Jaklin of Ladaniva. Even before the song started, she looked like she was having the time of her life with the crew. She’s enjoying this experience so much, and therefore, so are we. This is the personification of fun and they’ve brought it all to the stage with ease, and it’s impossible not to smile. Note: everyone needs to stop clapping out of time to this song, it’s very jarring.
🇱🇻 A very lovely man with a nice song and nice staging. But painfully inoffensive and forgettable, which is made even more apparent in this semi, filled with excitement.
🇪🇸 The vocals are next to non-existent, so quiet and whispery. But as I said to the man in front of me who said “I just don’t get this”, I said “just forget about everything you care about and embrace the camp”. That’s all this about - the vocals are never going to win awards but if you just relax and have fun with this song, it’s a joyful 3 minutes delivered with a song of luxury and regalness, darling.
🇸🇲 I’ve seen people raving about this and while I do think the lead singer has stage presence and like ability for days, this performance didn’t do much for me. Felt very colour vomit and I just couldn’t connect with it.
🇬🇪 My one note on this: I actually wanted more fire? We were so close to the front that I nearly lost my eyebrows to the flames but after the first chorus where she pops off with the choreo, I think there could’ve been more drama. That aside, she nails this, throws everything she has at it and makes it feel like a real moment. A true star and this song felt electric live.
🇧🇪 Saw this twice as he got to reperform at the end. We don’t know why as the first one felt good to us but who knows? He’s throwing all of this weight behind this and really fights to get the crowd going. I feel like it never really feels dramatic and rousing enough but that’s definitely not Mustii’s fault. Great guy, average staging imo.
🇪🇪 This went down very well in the arena so my prediction of non qualification is likely incorrect. It does feel very fun and the “battle” sense of this performance is enjoyable. The song still hasn’t clicked with me but once the dance routine kicks in, I could see people in the standing seats stood up replicating it so it’s definitely got its audience that will push this through and adore it.
🇮🇹 Angelina is a star and I think this is getting a tough time online. She nails it all and this felt like you were invited to her concert. Many dancers but she’s always main focus. Does it feel like a winning performance? I’m not sure. But it does do the song justice and certainly had us screaming in the pit.
🇳🇴 This felt oddly quiet in the arena? Gunnhild’s vocals usually feel so powerful but the microphone sounded like it was turned down. I imagine it’ll sound different on screen though and I think the performance will look better on screen than live. Enjoyed this but wanted a little bit more. I do feel like there was a bit of a hangover from Israel before it, where many walked out/boo’d etc and were trying to resume to their normal enjoyment.
🇳🇱 Probably the biggest crowd reaction of the night, unsurprisingly. I feel like they could’ve done more with the staging but if there’s one thing about Joost, he’ll sell it with oomph and he’s so loveable. He seemed genuinely overwhelmed at the end and was visibly crying. You can’t not like this man and the ability to feel emotional about a song this silly is a credit to his storytelling.
So that’s that! Amazing semi, you’re in for such a treat watching from home or if you’re attending tonight’s live show.

I attended the Jury Rehearsal for Semi Final 1 last night and you guys are in for A TREAT 👏🏼
Here are my thoughts on all of the acts:
🇨🇾 She truly puts everything into this but the emptiness of it all does make it fall a bit flat. Just Silia and four dancers giving us choreography from start to finish with lighting that doesn’t feel fun and vibrant enough to me. I still love the song and want it to qualify, especially for how much she’s fighting but I am underwhelmed.
🇷🇸 Vocals, as ever, completely on point. The staging doesn’t really transport me anywhere and I dare say it might needed to have done more to push this over the line of qualification but it’s very tasteful, classy and well performed.
🇱🇹 Effortless, slick, polished, no complaints, no notes. One of the best of the night, so reliable and absolutely bangs in person. Went down really well with the crowd too.
🇮🇪 Honestly… best of the night, I nearly lost my voice screaming. And for context, if you haven’t seen my videos, this song was 25th in my ranking before coming here. It's now 8th. What a journey, from the first second to the last, every last detail has been considered and maximised. Incredible and has to be in contention for top 10 in the final. If I didn't know better, I'd say it felt like a winner, but let's not get over excited.
🇺🇦 The staging for this is perfection imo. Full of hope, each performer has a chance to shine, well paced and a great use of the entire stage. Ukraine just get it and I'm now fully on board with this song AT LAST.
🇵🇱 I find this staging WAY too busy. There's so much happening that it detracts from the vocals and the song as a whole and leaves it feeling a bit cheesy. Poland always do too much and I'm sure this will still qualify, but I actively dislike the staging.
🇭🇷 For the very first time, I can say I understand this winning. It's all come together so well and Baby Lasagne looks so confident as a performer now. It doesn't even feel silly or jokey now, just a genuine banger of a song sold with real power and energy. So likeable - best crowd reaction of the night, just ahead of Ireland.
🇮🇸 I can't lie, this felt sad. Hera is a queen and she's so loveable but the staging, while sweet, is just lacking and it's a big step down from the highs of Croatia.
🇸🇮 I'll be hated for saying this but the staging lacks impact. Raiven looks and sounds great but I don't feel like the performance goes anywhere. Too dark and doesn't take you on a journey, which Raiven's vocals are. 10/10 for her.
🇫🇮 Absolutely still love this and went down amazingly with the crowd, as expected. Silly, stupid but bundles of fun and comes at a perfect time in the semi to get the audience back on their feet and dancing.
🇲🇩 This was kind of a shock to me - both me and my boyfriend thought the song sounded great live and her vocals were one of the best of the night. Staging wise though? So empty and lacking, poor Natalia looks tiny on such a big stage, left alone with nothing but pretty colours around her.
🇦🇿 Surprisingly dark? Quite good but fails to leave any real lasting impact once it's over.
🇦🇺 One of my favourites of the night! So feel good and when the guy with the didgeridoo comes out, it feels SO joyful. It does feel like a lot of wandering aimlessly around the stage at parts, but mostly just left me feeling warm and celebratory.
🇵🇹 Undoubtedly one of the best stagings of the semi imo. So polished, the white colouring stands out amongst the rest and vocally perfect again. HAS to qualify.
🇱🇺 Not wowed by the staging but Tali sounds great and it's a solid and professional end to the night. I think this could suffer in the final though for not being as ambitious as I think it could've been.
Eleni Foureira stole the show for me though and I finally got to see my favourite Eurovision song of all time performed live! WOW. Yeah, yeah, fire indeed.

So, here goes… Eurovision week has arrived and my journey to Malmö begins.
I’ve never done a community post but wanted to take the opportunity to say a huge thank you to everyone who has subscribed, commented, liked or even just watched a single second of my content this year.
We’re nearing the end of my first year of covering Eurovision content from the first song reveal through to the last - in previous years just having reacted to them all in bulk in April - and it’s been such a rewarding experience that’s helped me feel even more connected to my favourite thing in the world (Eurovision, to be clear).
To some, ~650 subscribers would be nothing but I specifically remember dropping my video for Pedestal and it receiving about 8 views in the first 24 hours. It was disheartening but I was determined to power on, and thank god I did. I’ve had some amazing conversations with fans all around Europe (and Australia of course!) and got to hear all of your wonderful views and it’s been my favourite part of this whole process. I love to keep my channel as a place for mostly positivity and kindness, even if I’m not keen on something, and I hope that’s come across. I hope you’ve enjoyed my videos and they’ve made you smile at least once.
I’ve been working 40+ hours in a bar job in Manchester and trust me, it’s been tiring and difficult trying to find the motivation and time to edit a video. My respect for YouTubers who make it look easy is through the roof and a big shoutout to the many reactors who I’ve watched for years who always kill it (Shane, Tom, Oz, Noosh and all the many blogs). The fast paced nature of Eurovision is hard to keep up with, but seeing all the videos stacked up from December is super rewarding now!
To me, over 100,000 views across all my Eurovision videos this year feels like a HUGE achievement. And I can honestly say, I’ve enjoyed feeling like a part of this community so much. I don’t have many friends who are into Eurovision at all, I don’t have a circle, just my poor boyfriend who has to listen to my endless ramblings about who I think is going to win (which changes on a daily basis - today I’ve settled on Ukraine).
I’m going to filming vlog-style while I’m here in Malmo so I hope some of you will check that out when it drops, but for now, I hope you all enjoy Eurovision, wherever you may be.
And thank you once again - I love this community and you’ve made this Eurovision feel like a very special one to me.
I think I might have to do it again in 2025?
