I had the privilege of being Fizzâs first guest for his âSleepy Beagleâ podcast. We spoke about what Iâm trying to do for the local Rugby music scene as a recently elevated borough councillor, and my plans to cultivate a task force with the Mayor to establish a practice/recording/performance space for musicians in the town.

ONE YEAR OF VOICELESS!
I canât thank everyone enough for the support you have all shown this album. âVoicelessâ has changed my life in quite a number of ways since its release, and it is the grassroots support of my friends and those who follow me that has made it all happen.
Since its release, I have had my albums stocked in a record store for the first time, signed to a small independent/streaming record label, have had âRam Fjordâ played by BBC Introducing (not bad considering itâs instrumental!), have been followed the acoustic guitarist of the year 2022 and my favourite YouTube musician, and I also got a shoutout from Tony Polecastro which has extended my audience to an international level.
One of the albums crowning achievements was making a list cultivated by Ted Gioia - a very well respected jazz and music critic. I still canât believe he has even heard the album let alone rates it highly enough to be considered for a top albums list. He did an interview with Rick Beato which is well worth the watch!
The perfectionist in me will always find faults with the recordings - some of the performances I felt could be better, and the recording equipment I have now far surpasses what I had back in 2020. But given that this is a bedroom recording made with a single microphone during lockdown, Iâm pretty proud with how far its reach has been.
Big love to Lucy Chambers for creating beautiful animated visualisers for each song. To celebrate the anniversary Iâll be uploading her latest one for âVioletâ, which is also one of the earliest tunes I wrote for the album - 12:00pm on YouTube.
Another thanks goes to Nathan Morris at Pure Studios UK for mixing the album, to Connie Rudman for the beautiful album art, and to Matt Campbell for the sleeve design. Legends.
I am just a small independent musician who has a full-time job as a teacher trying my best to get my music out there. In the grand scheme of things, what I have achieved are baby steps. But every step is a step forward nonetheless!

I'm super excited to announce a new series of videos that I will be bringing out over the next few months! During my summer break I was able to get together with Korben Lay (korbenlay.co.uk/stillsandmoti...) and record a series of music videos for my songs from my first album 'Afterglow'!
We visited some beautiful places together, including Burton Dassett at sunrise and sunset (a painfully early start), a local canal, my house, and a random field with some horses. Some of the shots Korben got are frankly staggering.
I can't overstate what a beautiful job Korben has done purely from the fragments I have seen so far. He and I are both very proud of these, and can't wait for you all to see them!

Iâve been keeping this one close to my chest for the last few weeks, but Iâve been so excited about it thatâs itâs nice to finally blurt it out to you all.
The wonderful channel Acoustic Life, and itâs incredibly generous host/creator Tony's Acoustic Challenge reached out to me a few weeks back to let me know that Iâd be featured on the channel (link to full video via my LinkTree in bio).
Obviously I was excited about this for a number of reasons: a small artist such as myself getting a much wider reach, sharing a roster with amazing musical talent, and networking with other musicians and music lovers. Though principally over all of that, it means so much to me that a guy as worldly and involved with the music I know and love as Tony finding merit in my playing is such a validation for myself and my music - I feel very honoured that he took the time out to try and bring me closer to an audience that may well enjoy what I have to offer.
I stumbled upon Acoustic Life whilst looking for more guitarists to listen to, and after seeing his video on John Faheyâs legacy, I not only found 10 amazing players, but a fantastic music channel that caters to everything I love about fingerstyle guitar. Absolutely check it out when you get the chance, there is SO much there!
I have a series of videos coming up made with the very talented Korben Lay, and a load of new animations on the way from Lucy Chambers for my instrumentals off âVoicelessâ. A like, subscribe/follow and all that will keep you up to date with what Iâm doing.

Last week the lovely lot over at Head Records helped a boyhood dream of mine come true by stocking both of my albums âAfterglowâ and âVoicelessâ. I wasnât able to get over there until yesterday morning to see for myself, but it was a really special moment for me.
Very grateful to you all for your support, wherever you are in the world! But if you happen to be in Leamington Spa, have a pop in to the shop and help ensure that my albums donât sit gathering dust! The staff are amazing too, and I encourage to talk to them about what music theyâre currently spinning (they have great taste, obviously đ)

On Saturday I played at the Temperance for Head Recordsâ Record Store Day After Party with Megalocerous, Abi Rowberry and Hannah Woof.
Without exaggerating, it was definitely one of the most enjoyable gigs Iâve played as a solo musician since Iâve started playing on my own. It was great to hear not only the amazing artists that played with me, but to hear the hum and buzz of everyone enjoying themselves, supporting others, talking about their interests, and sharing new art and music with each other. Having a listening and appreciative audience is the best thing any musician can have, and I got it in spades last night. Playing an instrumental set can always be tricky, but the crowd were so warm that I couldnât help but get quite emotional.
Super congrats and thank you to Kirsty Macleod for both inviting me to play and for putting together such a great event. And also a big thank you to Jude, Izzy and Amy for working through a busy Record Store Day, and for all the nice things you said to me afterwards. Have to say I was a little overwhelmed last night. And thank you Head Records Leamington Spa for stocking copies of âAfterglowâ and âVoicelessâ. Youâve helped to fulfil a boyhood dream of mine!
Anyway⌠enough waxing lyrical. Thank you for all of the support everyone!
