Spent a week in British Columbia with the LUMIX S9. These photos are from The Ancient Forest showing 1000 year old cedars. I'll be using these photos in an upcoming video and sharing some LUMIX updates. Exciting stuff coming.

I can’t resist a good puddle! Don’t worry the LUMIX S9 didn’t get a drop of water on it. And neither did Mel or her husband Keith. But we kept our helmets on for safety. 😂 Join me on Wednesday at The Camera Store’s YouTube Live. 7pm MST to see how I’ve been using the S9.

Caught these two Osprey having their supper in the late day light on my photo walk this evening. Shot with LUMIX G9ii and PanaLeica 100-400mm lens. Invermere, BC.

New video coming out in 10 hours! Topic is a little bit techy about the Lumix S9, G9ii and the OM-1 cameras, and features a hidden and very useful feature in LUMIX cameras. See you in the morning. P.S. It's also my first 4K video. Now that I have a new computer, I can actually edit in 4K. Woohoo!

Where is Marlene? Well I've been quietly toiling away in the background here. Haven't done much birding lately. Having a lot of issues with my c-spine (neck) for the past several months, so I can't carry heavy gear for long periods of time. Yes, even MFT gear gets heavy. I got a new computer workstation that will handle 4K video editing. And I got a new camera - the DJI Pocket 3 - for shooting some of my YouTube video footage. I need to travel light and having 2-3 cameras with a tripod on an outdoor shoot where I'm walking for hours is no longer an option. So I've had to pivot and expect I'll be refining things for a while yet.
The DJI Pocket 3 was highly recommended to me by several vloggers, including Emily Lowery from MicroFourNerds. But it's another new thing to learn, and it's forced me to shoot in LOG format so I have to learn a few new editing skills too.
What about the LUMIX S9? Well I've been enjoying shooting with that camera a lot this summer. It's not too heavy with the 20-60mm lens and I find myself grabbing it for photo walks. I'm shooting video and stills with it, and engaging the LUTS for my jpgs and videos. And even shooting a lot of RAW + jpg files with it. I'm working on about 3 video scripts at the moment and the S9 will be featured in them. You'd be surprised by what you can shoot, even without at viewfinder. I've also been collecting images and video with the S9, G9ii and OM-1 for one of my upcoming videos with a birding theme.
All of the photos here are taken with the Lumix S9 on my photo walk earlier this week, using the Built In LUT called StreetWise - By Emily Lowery. I found an old gas station and it made a great subject.
Let me know what you've been up to with your photography. Would love to connect. Thanks for sticking around!

Got out birding a couple of times on the weekend. Working on content gathering for my August "bird" video.... It's not about American Robins, but I found these shots while on my travels. Did you do any photography on the weekend?

Things that fly! Also low-hanging fruit subjects as there were near my house. Both images shot with the OM1. The Swainson's Hawks are using the PanaLeica 100-400mm, and the fly is with the 60mm mZuiko Macro lens. I'm still on the fence about the OM1 camera. Some days it does great and other days I can't get a clean shot. Same with the Lumix G9ii actually. They are so similar that I can't really decide which one I like better. Well to be honest, I prefer the G9ii for the handling and menus. But I'm more used to it. These were shot in jpg and no deNoise tricks have been applied to these images. You get what you get!

Always love seeing these Yellow-headed Blackbirds in the ponds and ditches by the side of the roads in rural Alberta. They're very animated and chatty birds. All shot with Lumxi G9II and PL100-400mm, and just before things got smoky.
