I'm mostly posting old school-ish Old-time music from Southern Appalachia and the broader Southern US. I'm trying to post high quality stuff because the internet is full of half-baked renditions of this beautiful music, which is a bummer. I make music inspired by rare old sounds. songs/banjo/fiddle—mostly inspired and informed by Old-time musicians from the Southern US. I grew up in Tennessee and cut my musical teeth there. I tried to learn from some of the older players around there. I like music with edges, grit, and guts. I'm also a folklorist/ethnomusicologist person with a phd and have taught fiddle and banjo at one of the few university programs where you can major in this stuff. Besides playing and teaching lots of traditional stuff, I sometimes collaborate with folks who make music outside of that world. Thanks for checking this out.
