Valaya by Parfums de Marly is a Floral Fruity fragrance marketed for women and the nose behind it is none other than the genius and, incidentally, my absolute favourite perfumer, Quentin Bisch.

Top notes are Aldehydes, White Peach, Bergamot and Mandarin Orange;
Heart notes are Orange Blossom, Petalia, Lily-of-the-Valley, Nympheal™, Vetiver and Mahonia;
Base notes are Musk, Ambroxan, Akigalawood and Vanilla.

On my skin, Valaya opens with a citrusy top, in which juicy, tangy, sparkling mandarin intertwines with the bittersweetness of bergamot. From the very first moments, the liveliness of the citrus hints, implicitly, at a more padded, fluffy dimension (no doubt thanks to the musks). The velvety texture of a peach slowly takes shape in a relatively naturalistic style, transparent on the skin, but with subtle milky nuances.
I also detect the sensual and mineral side of Ambrofix in the background. The whole combination gives off a simultaneously acidic and pulpy vibe, to become almost zesty when an orange blossom accord, still blurred, gradually unfolds.
The orange blossom asserts itself more and more, bathed in freshness and light, while a water lily note highlights its radiance with diaphanous transparency. A light vegetal facet, almost honeyed, appears, and a few milky touches flesh out this vision of a vaporous flower.
Vetiver brings the floral bouquet towards woody horizons, supported by Akigalawood and the ever so present Ambrofix. The woody notes structure the whole and anchor the hold without the abrupt effect often attributed to amber woods because they blend into the bed of musks, soft and airy, rounded off by a few milky vanilla touches.
The fragrance exhales a sensation of whiteness (certainly accentuated by the color of the overall presentation) and creates an enveloping and misty roundness at the same time, like a cozy and silky bubble.
Valaya's pearly, musky side is reassuring, enveloping, and comfortable, cultivating a padded, skin-deep sensuality. And, whilst the floral, woody, and musky accord is not necessarily new, it does shine brightly with its game of sillage, texture, and light.
To say that I love this ultra-sexy, beastmode fragrance is an understatement and I urge you to sample this mind blowing fragrance as soon as you can. But make sure you test it on your skin, as otherwise you’ll miss out on the most beautiful development I’ve ever come across on a scent.

Have you tried Valaya yet? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
