Asian leopard cat[Prionailurus Bengalensis] or leopard cat is one of the most beautiful and intelegent small to medium sized wild cats. The number of Asian leopard cats' chromosome is 38, the same to domestic cats', so breeders use them to breed with domestic cats in order to give our domestic cats the beautiful leopard-like pelt and athletic body. They are the forefathers of today's TICA-registered bengal cats, and some famous exotic hybrid cats such as Ashera cats and Safari cats[Geoffroy's cat and bengal hybrids]. The bengal making adds some "eu-genes" to our domestic cats' gene pool because Asian leopard cats are not only beautiful but also immune to feline lukemia virus. However, bengal making dilutes the wild Asian leopard cats' gene pool.
