Lusitano stallion Berlioz des Bruns of @ lusitaniensmarietardieu — what amazing stallion in dun coat. This makes my heart beat higher 🤩 during my last trip to the Camargue in southern France I didn’t only take pictures of Camargue horses. You can also find some amazing Lusitano horses, such as these ones. We took the pictures in the wonderful nature of the place and Berlioz is a master in nice posing ❤️ with his beautiful big eye. He is passing on his dun coat colour with the eel stripe and zebra stripes on the legs to the next generation. I was happy to photograph some of his youngsters who are growing up (with a Camargue horse “uncle” 😂) and I have to admit, that I truely love colour coat, not only on “wildlings”.

What a dream horse! Ethik des Monts, a beautiful Mérens stallion from the south of France. Mérens horses come from the Pyrenees and are therefore true mountain horses. Like so many local and minor horse breeds, the Mérens is endangered and almost became extinct in the recent past. Nowadays, the population is increasing again and more and more people are enjoying these fantastic leisure horses.
Mérens don't need to hide for photo shoots either! The jet-black horses also look great in front of the camera.
This photo was taken for my project Forgotten Horses and has the goal to raise awareness to disappearing horse breeds and preserve equine diversity.

Auf dem Foto: Dülmener Pferde im Merfelder Bruch bei Sonnenaufgang. Für das Fotografieren in der Blauen Stunde und bei solchen Low-Light-Situationen muss man alles aus der Kamera rausholen um schöne Bilder zu erhalten.
