The International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES) is an independent study centre located in Neuchùtel, Switzerland. It was created in 1995 as a foundation by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the University of Neuchùtel, the City and State of Neuchatel.
Using a multi-disciplinary approach (law, sociology, history and management), CIES provides research, top-level education and consulting services to the world of sport. Since its inception, CIES has aimed to be a bridge between the worlds of research, education and sports organisations.
At an educational level, CIES organises the FIFA Master - International Master in Management, Law and Humanities of Sport as well as the FIFA/CIES University Network which brings together Universities from around the globe to propose a curriculum of continuing education in sports management. Moreover, CIES is a hub for research as the CIES Football Observatory, specialised in the statistical analysis of football/sports.
