Would you like to learn more about Ilocano? Join me here as I teach myself grammatically correct Ilocano -- and also help modernize Ilocano vis-a-vis English (or Filipino or in other cases, Norwegian). Ilocano is an Austronesian language spoken mostly by people in Northern Philippines, and is the ancestral language of many people in Hawaii, USA. In June 2024, I decided it´s time to teach myself correct ways of writing Ilocano. Ilocano is my mother tongue, but I have never learned it in school before, like I have learned, English, and Norwegian, all of which I have excellent command of. As I go deeper into teaching myself the Ilocano language, I get amazed at how it stands out as one of the richest when it comes to verb forms or verb vocabulary. The only problem I´ve found is: there are many words that have become archaic. Thus, I thought, it´s time to help find modern Ilocano words or word equivalents of the modern concepts in the modern world as we know it today. (26 Aug. 2024)
