फ़िर क्यूँ हम तन्हाई में डूबे रहते हैं

हम चाहते हैं कोई ऐसा जो हमारी सुने
दूसरों की सुनने से खुद परहेज़ रखते हैं

अजीब लोग थे, वह तितलियाँ बनाते थे
समुंदरों के लिए मछलियाँ बनाते थे

मेरे कबीले में तालीम का रिवाज़ ना था
मेरे बुज़ुर्ग़ मगर तख़्तियाँ बनाते थे

वही बनाते थे लोहे को तोड़कर ताला
फिर इसके बाद वही चाबियाँ बनाते थे

फ़िज़ूल वक़्त में वह सारे शीशागर मिलकर
सुहागिनीयों के लिए चूड़ियाँ बनाते थे

हमारे गाँव में दो-चार हिंदू दर्ज़ी थे
नमाज़ियों के लिए जो टोपियाँ बनाते थे !!
