Cuban composer, guitarist and bagpiper Armando Rodríguez Ruidíaz studied musical composition with José Ardévol and Roberto Valera at the Instituto Superior de Arte, in Havana Cuba, and served as professor of guitar and musical theory at the Escuela Nacional de Artes.
He resides in Miami, Florida since 1985 and has received several composition awards. His music has been performed by renowned artists and ensembles such as the Philadelphia based "Relâche" Ensemble.
Armando Rodríguez has studied the Galician bagpipe and has also conducted extensive research on the Galician and Asturian music, as well as on the history and technique of the bagpipes. As a bagpipes specialist, he was invited to give a lecture on the history of this ancient instrument at the University of Miami in 2006.
