Can someone who knows one/both please tell me if these connections are accurate?
Connections:
-Both are giant, purple-bodied, pupil-less yellow-eyed antagonists from an extremely popular and beloved sci-fi franchise introduced in the 80s
-They are not the main antagonist, instead being servants to a metallic, ill-tempered villain who serves that role instead and heads their organization of evil aliens (Shockwave being the head of engineering for the Decepticons and one of Megatron’s minions; Ridley aiding Mother Brain, the leader of the Space Pirates).
-This leader wasn’t always a villain, actually having known the red-colored main protagonist before having turned in a rebellion and joined this organization (Mother Brain was an interface created by the Chozo who oversaw Samus as she grew into an adolescent and eventually turned on her masters to help the Space Pirates invade them; Megatron was formerly a friend of Optimus Prime before becoming the leader of the oppressed and now-rebellious Decepticons).
-Despite this, they have a possibly more-frightening reputation than the main villain, known for their merciless brutality and intimidating nature.
-This is added onto by their seeming inability to stay defeated, with almost any encounter that ends with their loss eventually being followed with a new attempt by them to annihilate their respective enemies.
-Another factor of their extreme power is their great intelligence, which they are well-known for alongside their monstrous nature.
-Not really a good connection, but both are portrayed as being made of metal (Ridley has been revived several times in metallic bodies; Shockwave is a Cybertronian so he is a robot).
Contrasts:
-Shockwave’s destructive nature comes from the belief that what he does is best for the universe around him, while Ridley simply enjoys slaughter and chaos for the sake of it.
-Shockwave is a traitor, while Ridley, despite his extremely violent tendencies, is not.
-Shockwave is basically known for his intelligence, being referred to as a ‘computer on legs’, while Ridley’s intelligence is well known in spite of his nature, with many assuming him to be a mindless killer while in reality he is extremely smart.

Hello, my fans. If you are here, it probably means you have awful taste in MUs and mediocre taste in trailers. Those of you who use r/DBM may recognise me as Born-Environment-239, the God of Bad Matchups.
