This is the Official YouTube Channel for the Houston Swing Dance Society (HSDS).

The Houston Swing Dance Society was incorporated March 18, 1997, as a 501 (c) 3 non-profit, educational organization, dedicated to the preservation of swing dancing, a wholesome, healthy, safe and truly American activity. It was formed by a small group of dedicated people to promote the resurgence of interest in the social dances of the Swing Era. The particular focus was, and continues to be, Lindy Hop, the African American jazz dance that was born in the Harlem Renaissance, and popularized in the Savoy Ballroom.

The Houston Swing Dance Society's first event was the Frankie Manning Workshop in April of 1997, which was renamed the Lindyfest in 1999. Later in the year, the "Houston Hepcats" were formed from members of the Houston Swing Dance Society, and this performing swing dance company began presenting performances both locally and nationally.
