Being Neurodiverse isn't Always Rainbows and Butterflies with Kaitlin McCarthy Fireside Chat with Temple Grandin As I grew older I was getting failed by the school system. I've seen how harsh school can be for people who are different I've really come to embrace the Neurodiverse aspect of who I am. Mentoring helped me empathize with others I was told that I was dumb or lazy, but I knew that I was really smart Growing up I had no clue what ADHD was I learned the power of self-advocacy. I've learned how to be me own advocate. Neurodiverse people need actual tools and understanding. Her legacy inspires us to fight for a world where every individual is respected and valued. We honor Fannie Lou Hamer in celebration of Black History and Black Futures Month As a minority and neurodivergent person I'm perceived by society in a certain way. Becoming a mentor will help the next generation. Taking pride in my Neurodiversity has helped me in so many ways. There was so much more that he wasn’t demonstrating in the classroom. Eye to Eye has been critical in making my kid who he is today. Self advocacy is one of the most important things. Confidence helps you find meaning and worth in the world. I can do great things with my ND As a society we fail to genuinely embrace difference It gives me the confidence to help and support others Confidence in my ND continues to grow This helped me grow out of my shell The ND community makes you feel like family We have a shared connection How I Got Connected to my Community I can work for hours and see the solution I feel more supported than I ever have I'm able to give kids the same experience that I had I find the good in myself Learning to ask for help has been an incredible strength I found a way to feel like I wasn't alone Why am I ND proud?
