The run/walk method is my jam. Today I ran 3.5 minutes, then walked 1 minute for 7km. I ran to feel rather than a set pace and ended up with an average running pace of 7:15/km (my Garmin breaks it down to running vs walking vs idle). That's a faster pace than what I can sustain but having the walking intervals makes it not only possible, but actually enjoyable.
Do you include planned walking breaks in your runs?

On Valentine's Day we woke to find our beautiful Gracie (aka Goober) lying in a pool of her own waste, unable to stand. She was 15 and had been declining but we hadn't seen any signs of imminent trouble: she was still eating and walking and was her normal, sweet self.
We wrapped her in a towel and, while Barry and the kids held her and told her how much they loved her, I got her cleaned up. We got the kids off to school and headed to the vet. Gracie was very lethargic but was not in distress and actually purred softly to the very end. She exited this world with Barry and I telling her how loved she is and thanking her for bringing so much love to our family.
Saying good-bye to her was one of the hardest things we've ever done. We've had the privilege of sharing our home with Gracie since she was 2 months-old and she has left a hole that can never be filled.
Farewell, Goober. We love you.

Hi friends!
Just a quick note to say Happy Friday!! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. What are your plans? If you're a runner too, what session(s) do you have planned for the weekend?
I've been pushing off my interval session this week because the blister I developed during last week's long run has proven to be a jerk. I've never had a blister become infected but this one did; it's as miserable as you might think. Thankfully, the pain is much less today so I'm hopeful I can have a successful run this afternoon. But in socks that don't ruin me.

Hello friends!
Has it really been five months since I last posted a video?! Time flies when life is throwing all the curveballs at you.
I'm working on some new videos for you: an update on the surgery I had last fall, an update on my fitness goals, and some training updates for my upcoming triathlons and a 100km cycle I'm doing in August.
If there is anything you're particularly interested in, please let me know!
I hope you're all well and I'm excited to get back to filming videos.

Hi everyone!
I'm going to be filming a three-month update for my breast reduction and panniculectomy soon.
What questions do you have??

It's been almost four weeks but today I finally -FINALLY- feel pain-free. I'm still uncomfortable and have lots of healing left to do but I'm so grateful not to be crawling out of my skin with pain.
Fingers are crossed that this isn't just a fluke and that I've turned the corner!

Hi friends!!
Surgery recovery has been the equivalent of repeatedly flopping on to a pile of Lego but damned if I'm not happy with the results.
It's still very early days for my stomach but, my friends, I've now got the boobs of a 25 year-old!
I should have an update video posted later the week.

Hi friends! The sleeping pills my surgeon gave me have helped immensely and I feel so much better, physically and mentally. Another thing helping me with my recovery has been focusing on my nutrition and ensuring I take in sufficient protein to help my body repair itself. But I hate protein shakes; they're cloyingly sweet to me and too thick.
Enter My Protein. They offer a wide variety of flavours (my favourite is the chocolate brownie whey powder mixed with soy milk) and even have things like protein lemonade and Mike & Ike flavoured powder which is a pleasant change. Some of my favourite leggings come from My Protein as well. (I promise this isn't a sponsored post; I just wanted to share in case anyone is looking for protein alternatives or new workout/lounge clothes.)
I have an affiliate code with them which saves your 40% off your order of $40 or more and provides me a $30 credit. The credit will come in very handy when I'm ready to replace my sports bras in a few more weeks!
Here is the link to the Canadian site; it should automatically take you to your region: ca.myprotein.com/referrals.list?applyCode=KARA-RLG

Hi friends!
I'm four days out from my procedures and healing well. I've filmed some updates but can't yet get to the computer to edit and post. I did make it down a flight of stairs to our main floor today but coming back up took it out of me and I slept for 2 hours after. But here's a pic of me before my gastric bypass 3 years ago and a comparison pic of me today (ignore the massive bruise and granny panties, 'kay? đ).
I hope you are all doing well!!

Hi friends!
I'm undergoing my breast reduction and excess skin removal surgeries tomorrow. I'm SO excited but also very scared.
I will try to post an update as soon as I can but you likely won't see any videos from me until mid-September. I'm going to take it easy and just remove as many stresses from my shoulders as possible.
I hope you're all doing well!
