Originally trained in the classics, with a deep love of Bach, Debussy, and Ravel, Reece’s first professional engagements came while playing in dance bands during the swing revival movement of the late 90’s where he developed a deep love for American Popular song, in particular compositions by Ellington, Waller, and Gershwin. Reece weaves these influences into picturesque, melodic short stories, based on elements of the natural world, character portraits, and imagined realities. His compositions work well to underscore to long walks, as backdrops to quiet contemplation, and hopefully, as inspiration for a variety creative pursuits.
