An herd of Elephants at Sunset ⛅️🐘☀️

It's summer time and we all need lots lots of water! And cool too 🧊

Let's learn about Asian elephants, they have one small projection at the end of their trunk, called a "finger," which aids with precision. 🌿

Elephants use their trunks to take up water and squirt it into their mouths. 💦

New research from the Georgia Institute of Technology finds that elephants dilate their nostrils in order to create more space in their trunks, allowing them to store up to 5.5 liters of water ☘️

They can also suck up three liters per second - a speed 30 times faster than a human sneeze (150 meters per second/ 330 mph) ✨🐘

Elephants require about 68.4 to 98.8 L (18 to 26 gal.) of water daily, but may consume up to 152 L (40 gal.) An adult male elephant can drink up to 212 L (55 gal.) 🦥

So the next time you're in a National Park/ Jungle/ Tiger Reserve, and if you see an Elephant be careful to give them space and notice their behaviour 🌻
