Do you fear the wildness within you, and the wildness around you?
Reading @sharonblackiemythmakings on @substack this week, she told a fairytale about a family welcoming a wild bear into their home. She was talking about hospitality, yet it made me think of how hospitable we are to the wildness within us.
For me, part of my creative journey has been about accepting the wildness within, the unknown, the uncontrollable.
Creativity allows things to get messy… yet also offers us a way of living with this.
Many of us live an existence where everything is controlled and we share a deep unsettled feeling when things get out of control.

Where do you go to feel alive and be inspired? To feel part of something bigger. To get a sense of proportion.
All my work, rest and play centre on the shoreline, the meeting of ocean and land.

Have you watched the recent Avicii documentary? This quote from him has been lingering within me the last few days.
As a creative, he showed his heart to the world through his music and how he mastered melody. And for all creatives, there is such vulnerability in this.
He spoke a lot in the film about the fact that he struggled to know himself as he rose to fame and a hungry music industry seemed to sweep him away. He reflected on this towards the end, and how important it is for all of us to be anchored in ourselves, our own intelligence and wisdom.
Creative expression can be such a beautiful way to explore ourselves, yet that doesn’t make life easy. I’m not sure anything can make life easy. But at least we get to navigate our lives with honesty and integrity.
Sorry to see you go Avicii, I get the impression you had so much more to show us.

We’ve been in the slumber of early January, in the darkness of deep reflection.
Wherever you are, look for signs of life around you.

As we move towards the end of January, finally we see signs of life.
If we are brave enough to resist the high energy start to the New Year, we have pondered and reflected, giving time and space to what was needed.
Yet there is always a turning point, when the energies around us begin to grow and the world begins to open. We are almost there.
In Human Design, the Rave New Year begins on 21st January, when the Sun returns back to the beginning of its annual cycle. It reaches Gate 41, the start codon, and the cycle begins anew.
So in our final days, what are you ready to accept and let go of from the previous year, allowing you to begin your small steps forward.
