I am uploading the final incarnation of my all original rock band projects, 39 Reasons. There are not too many studio recorded songs of this project but I do have a lot of live video recordings that I will need to sift through. This was still well before iPhones were a thing so the recordings were filmed on a camcorder which is pretty grainy from the low level lighting. Oddly the earlier camcorder we had for Untyde was easier to use and captured video better. I do have a few good quality videos of 39 Reasons I will share at some point. I am also not quite done with Untyde just yet as I found an interview from 2003 and some more live videos I'd like to upload. Once all the 39 Reasons studio recordings have been uploaded that will end the studio recorded songs, which are in order on this channel chronologically from 1986-2004. If anyone reads this I thank you, to whoever listens to these songs and visits this page I really appreciate it!
Thank you!

I appreciate everyone who stops by this YouTube channel and I thank you for your interest in the work I have done over the years. I created this channel to mostly showcase the history of projects that I have worked on during my music career. All the information I have on these projects are written in the descriptions below each video uploaded. The videos and descriptions are are there for you to interpret however you, the listener or viewer sees fit. I have no opinions or comments other than what has already been written in those descriptions.

Hello to all my 79 people who follow this page lol Thank you! I have something pretty cool I will be sharing at the end of the week and hoping to have more bass content moving forward. I mean documenting shit I have done in the past is cool, but I think I'd like to try to keep this channel a little fresh and new at times too!! In the mean time keep it on the low end!!

Good morning and happy Friday, sorry for the radio silence lately. It's been a busy couple of weeks. Today I am working on something kind of fun. I don't like talking on camera so these posts will have to do until I get a little more brave lol I rediscovered a few live recordings that were sent to me last year by our guitar player Ed Stacey. We competed in the battle of the bands competition at the legendary Infinity in Springfield, MA back in the early 90s. The Infinity was known for being more of a club geared towards metal bands. We were a blues rock band, a little bit out of our element but we ended up coming in 4th place out of a think almost 50 or so bands that started, could have been more. All I know is that there were some incredibly talented bands that played on that stage. I am going to start with an upload for the song Home Street Home. This recording was taken directly from the soundboard. If anyone is familiar with the Infinity will know Jeff Gilmer, who later went on to work with Staind, was the audio engineer at the Infinity and the one recording us that night. Jeff would later record Dead Reckoning's 8 song demo cassette in 1995. I have a few more songs to upload as well. Unfortunately, I don't have the entire night. I hope anyone who is listening enjoys the recordings!

I put up another found video of Untyde live at The Garage back in 2002.

I really don't think anyone really reads these posts but I thought I’d back track a bit and go back to 1986 and write a brief history of how we came up with the name Diamondz in the Rough. The band always rehearsed at Tommy’s house in a room that was off of the basement. His Dad had a very successful business at the time and owned a historic Italian Villa in Springfield, MA. It was a really nice place to practice, far from neighbors so the noise didn’t bother too many people in the neighborhood. Before I arrived on the scene, Scott, Tommy and John had been practicing with a younger bass player who had just started and I guess wasn’t working out too well. Scott had me come in and jam just to see what I thought, when Tommy’s Dad noticed the change from where he was listening upstairs he came down to the basement. When Tommy’s Dad heard the music, he got really excited and told us we were like “Diamonds in the Rough” that we just “needed to be molded a little” and that we “might have something here” Well when Scott heard him say that he nearly jumped out of his skin yelling “Holy Shit! Diamonds in the rough! That’s the name!! that’s the band name!!” We all agreed but had to put a little spin on it and have Diamonds be spelled with a Z, because you know a band is a lot cooler when they take a normal word and change the spelling right? Oh, btw that bass player who I replaced, well he turned out fine, played in a lot of cool bands in the area. I never thought I was a better than him, I just happened to have a little bit more experience at that time. He continues to play to this day and has done very well for himself.

I wanted to take moment to comment on the Diamondz in the Rough band photo that I have used for the songs that I uploaded. First and foremost, it is no secret that it’s a pretty silly photo and honestly there’s no shame in that. It was taken in 1986 and back then that’s what most of the kids were wearing. So, if you were to let’s say use that photo and make derogatory remarks about it on your page, well that’s not too original as we have been laughing at it ourselves for about 40 years now. We had this idea to wear turquoise and red because when they’re next to each other those colors kind of hurt your eyes. My joke has always been and I am quoting myself. “Little did we know that we’d hurt your eyes anyway” I’m hilarious right? We were all barely 20 years old at the time, so we were making decisions that 19 or 20-year-olds would make, kids being kids if you will. I hope whoever is reading this has a nice Father's Day weekend.

I have added the full show of Untyde at The Gig in Hollywood, CA back in 2002. This video has been posted before but the songs were broken up into individual videos back when YouTube had a time restriction. The one just uploaded is the entire show all the way through. I have been finding some more hidden gems from the Untyde days which I can't wait to share. I didn't realize how much we accomplished in such a short time together. #untyde

I am going to start documenting some radio interviews from the Untyde era. I will then begin working on the final all original project I was involved in from 2004-2006 which was 39 Reasons. I need to document all this before I forget. I need to go back and complete the summaries from the previous bands as well. I got together and jammed with a few guys who live close to me last weekend, little bit of a just for fun kind of thing. I hadn't played with a band in years. It felt good to get my feet wet again. Not sure if anyone reads these but if you do, thanks!! 🤘🤘😊

I am currently uploading the music from Untyde which brings me into 1999-2003. Untyde was a modern rock band based out of Los Angeles. We had a pretty good following at the time and our song Shine was featured in what I jokingly refer to as "the only Ryan Reynolds movie that nobody has seen" called School of Life. It aired briefly on ABC Family in 2005 then fizzled out into obscurity. I did see the DVD at a bed bath and beyond once lol Untyde played at all the cool places in Hollywood including the Whisky A Go Go (which I believe in the early 2000s we referred to it as just "The Whisky") as well as The Roxy, Viper Room and The House of Blues as well as other local LA haunts. We had our CD Release Party with the band Powder at The House of Blues, Hollywood. There are duplicates of the Untyde songs and I am not sure if I am going to take the videos down that I uploaded originally or not, they're the same songs, I just added more photos to the newer videos. As always please enjoy the music. I am getting closer to the end which will be 2004-2006. I did have some minor side projects going on but nothing on the scale of these bands, but then again there maybe things I remember later. I am glad I am documenting this now before I get too old and forget stuff lol Cheers!

I am continuing to upload my all original bands from 1986-2006. I am currently working on the Dead Reckoning songs. I had previously uploaded a band called Lightning which was an obscure band after Diamondz in the Rough but before Dead Reckoning.

For those that were asking me to upload the Diamondz in the Rough songs I have done so, as well as a newer version of the Forest Park show. If at any time the content I have posted gets used in a negative way, for purposes of other creators personal gains, or any form of cyberbullying it will be immediately reported to YouTube. I hope we can all enjoy this music as adults. All of these songs were an important part of my early adulthood and are very special to me. Some of the individuals I shared these memories with are no longer with us, so I ask you to please be respectful. I do welcome all opinions about the music, including negative ones but certain actions will not be tolerated.
Thank you,
Joe
