The OhioRAAM Show reviews and supports ultracycling events and ultracyclists from around the world.
Ultracycling involves events of distances of 200, 400, 1000, 3000 miles and more where the clock never stops. Racers must learn to ride long distances with as little as one or two hours sleep per night.
There are also timed events where riders see how many miles over a measured course they can ride in a given time. These are typically 6, 12 or 24 hours.
The 3,000 mile Race Across America is the epitome of all ultracycling. Solo riders must to this in less than 12 days, teams in less than eight to finish. The record holding solo rider has done it in less than 8 days. It is held every June from racing from Oceanside, California to Annapolis, Maryland. Solo riders must qualify by cycling 400 miles in less than 24 hours in one of the more than 40 qualifying races held around the world.
