Hello, I have not in fact quietly retired this channel or "forgotten the password", I've just been waiting for the right video idea to come along. You might not be waiting for a new video much longer.
Also, I privated a bunch of shorter meme videos and others that had copyright claims to try and get monetisation back on this channel, but I'm still getting the same "reused content" bollocks, so I'll probably reinstate those videos. Remind me to do that at some point.
And here's one of the edits I did for the thumbnail of my last video, cos it still happened to be on my computer and I had nothing else better to put here

Damn it's been nearly a year since I made a community post on this channel. Crazy
Anyway, I just deleted a few old videos on here because, well, I didn't think they were really all that good anymore. The other thing is that I'm seeing if I can reapply for monetisation on this channel, which previously got taken away due to copyrighted content, and the videos that I deleted were all copyright claimed in some way too.
I think the only major videos that I deleted were two videos each about the first two Pink Floyd albums - if I ever choose to revisit that topic then I'll probably just make a single video about all of their albums that I've heard. And if this attempt at remonetisation doesn't work, then I might go after my 2018 Nirvana video next, because it has 3 separate claims (also it hasn't aged terribly but some of the opinions in the video differ a bit to what I might say about Nirvana in the present).
Now make sure that you have a good week otherwise the Andy Partridge xenomorph will stare at you in all of your dreams
Update: The application got rejected after about 8 hours lol

Just an update for anyone here that may have followed this channel closely for a while:
I deleted the Sonic Youth "Worst to Best" video. The comments on that one were somewhat mixed, which I'd say was mostly down to people who were mad or disappointed that the video didn't cover all of the band's studio albums.
I'm still kinda surprised by how much that in particular pissed people off, but I also don't care enough to defend it, and would rather not have people getting pissed off in that case.
Also, I had a few things to say in the video about Kim Gordon as a musician, and whilst I did my best to not just be harsh for the sake of it, I can't really be certain that I was successful in that regard. But most of all, Kim has significantly grown on me from a musical standpoint since I made that video.
Admittedly, I still have no doubt that Kim's overall musicianship is pretty below average (all of Sonic Youth were shit musicians really, besides Steve - and Lee, at least in terms of vocals), but I have far more appreciation for what she brought to the band now. And from what I've heard of the later SY albums so far, it definitely sounds like her singing got more polished over time.
So the main reason I deleted the video is because I don't know if I still hold the same opinions about the band as I did for that video (I couldn't be bothered to rewatch it lol)
And if I ever remake the video and the list, then it will be after I'm able to properly rate every single main Sonic Youth Album - and after last week, I can finally say that I've listened to every one of those albums at least once. Yeah, so the updated video could be a while.
Peace and love n all that,
shonky (the fucked up Steve Shelley face guy)

If anyone still reads these posts and misses Shonky Music content, then I recently made an Instagram page where I post music memes (well, it's basically just the one meme, but with different songs).
This'll be the next best thing until I can be bothered to come up with something for this channel (which I promise will be someday because I definitely don't want this channel to die)

Two great Aussie bands have just released some jams that they did together. I've seen both of these bands live this year as well, and those shows absolutely went OFF
What a bloody year it's been (at least music-wise)

New Black Country, New Road album Ants From Up Here is worth a listen - some of it hasn't really blown my mind yet but it's a great album for sure.
On first listen I'd say my favourite songs are Haldern, Place He Inserted the Blade, Snow Globes and, of course, Basketball Shoes.
In other news, I've been writing a script for an in-depth musical video for about 5 months now - so maybe don't expect that in the NEAR future, but it's definitely something that I wanna put out eventually.
Til then, go listen to Ants From Up Here, folks
Edit: It's called Ants From Up THERE - bad shonk, bad!

New Failure song!
Apparently the album's coming next month. Based on this, it sounds like it'll be another commendable release from the band

I am now on albumoftheyear.org
Until I can be bothered to make a more substantial Shonky Music video, you can go here for some more music reviews in the meantime, if you want. Will probably make a short video about it as well. Peace

Rest in peace Bryan St. Pere of HUM :(
A skilful, heavy-hitting drummer to the very end
If I had to pick a HUM song that really showcased Bryan's talents, it would definitely be this one

I love music, but I'm not a professional musician, so I just talk about it instead.
Also an outlet for niche musical memes that would baffle my main channel audience.
I hope you'll join me on this unpredictable journey
