https://youtu.be/n1kVj_mLTXk This is another version of the same song with different visuals. Hope you enjoy this too.
And a very special version where Teresa sings to the accompaniment of a single piano with the composer Liang Hongzhi himself at the instrument. https://youtu.be/p1blYH3LaGE

In 1992 as part of the yearly Beauty Pageant held by ATV, Hong Kong, Teresa Teng was the special guest. Teresa and another top Cantopop singer Paula Tsui performed a classic opera song, "Teasing The Phoenix," a song from the movie "The Kingdom And The Beauty." The movie depicts how Emperor Zhengde disguises himself as a commoner and tours the country. He meets a girl, Phoenix Li and they fall in love. The female lead was played by famed actress Lin Dai, who won the Asian movies best actress award for 4 consecutive years. Sadly, she took her own life at the age of 29 in 1964. You can watch the performance in my other channel, Irises In The Sun. Here is the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2UTJY...

These are some dumplings I received today from a very kind church member. On days like these, I mean Chinese Festival days, I miss my mother the most. So, these gifts really mean a lot to me. ❤️🙏

In Part 14 of Teresa's concert, she sings in Minnan about making a living selling "hot dumplings." These are cakes made with glutinous rice, beans, meat and salted egg yolk. According to the Chinese Calendar, today is Duan Wu Jie, (Duan Wu Festival) known as the Dragon Boat Festival. On this day we remember a great man Qu Yuan (c. 340–278 BC) of the ancient state of Chu. The foolish emperor would not listen to his advice and accused him of treason. In despair, Qu Yuan committed suicide by drowning himself in the Miluo River.
The locals, who admired him, raced out in their boats to retrieve his body. This is the origin of dragon boat races. When his body could not be found, they dropped balls of sticky rice into the river so that the fish would eat them instead of Qu Yuan's body This started the tradition of the hot dumplings, known in Chinese as "zongzi" (粽子.)
In some concerts, when Teresa sings this song, she distributes dumplings to the audience.

Can you imagine how it feels like when you thought you'd never be able to have something and then you see it and you can? An exact replica, albeit miniaturized, of the LP I listened to in my next door neighbour's home whenever she played it. I was overjoyed.

Quite a while back, I became aware of a Japanese made-for-TV docudrama about Teresa. I searched everywhere in vain for the DVD. Finally, I found it in Tower records. I was overjoyed. Here is a scan of the DVD cover. The documentary talks about her childhood and how she was found by talent scouts who invited her to Japan. While her character is played by an actress, in the movie, there are footage of her real live performances. Here on the DVD cover, the actress poses as her in similar clothing depicting her iconic album covers.
