Finished The Horizon ✅️ (Thank you @paddle-nn2ir for the recommendation)
As you take a look at this tragic world,
you're probably shedding tears for us.
You're probably praying for us.
This is the fate of man.
This is our reality which cannot be changed.
Cry and cry until you can cry no more.
That's all we can ever do.
But, but...
Can you accept that this is the end?
Can you accept these tears?
No...
No...
Never.
I will never accept it.
Then just run...
Right now!
We must
believe in
love.
Above the horizon,
the sun rises.

Finished Season 1 of Maybe Meant To Be (Chp. 80) ✅️
Funny thing is, I meant to read this one on the side whenever I wasn't playing Euphoria or Slay the Princess, and before I knew it, I finished Season 1 🤷♂️
The premise of the story is about a 32 yr old woman, Jia Han, who, being both jobless and single, is living with her parents still. One day, during a smoke break, she suddenly meets her nerdy childhood friend, Mincheol Jin, who went from a short, thin nerd, to a tall, muscular nerd. After a bit of catching up, Jia, after hearing that Mincheol's parents signed him up for a marriage dating service, jokingly asked if they should just get married instead. The rest is history. (No spoilers ahead, TLDR below)
Not too much to say about this read, aside from the fact its was pretty damn fun. The dynamic between Jia and Mincheol is entertaining, Jia herself is such a vibe, and realizing shes more than just a bum and seeing the effect she has/had on others around her was a great experience.
There were some decent emotional moments, but aside from that, all I can say is its a light-hearted fun romance with faster pacing than what you would usually see.
TLDR: It's a entertaining read, the romance is relatively fast paced, and the way they balance humor and romance so well is what really made me binge it. Love the art style as well. Fav chars as of now are probably Jia > Mincheol > Yeonju > Nari

Caught up to The Apothecary Diaries (Chp. 77) ✅️
Maomao carries 🐐, but the story was genuinely interesting for me, and you can learn about many ancient chinese customs and how life was like during the time as well.
The story takes place in Ancient China, and the premise of the story is about an apathetic girl with bountiful knowledge about medicine/drugs, Maomao, who gets kidnapped and then sold to the inner court, an area where consorts of the emperor stay, along with countless other maids and eunuchs. We then follow her journey as her hope for an uneventful life is shattered. (TLDR at bottom; no spoilers ahead)
I just gotta say right off the bat that the anime adaptation is just amazing, in capturing Maomao's dry humor, I don't think there was a single episode where I didn't burst out laughing at how relatable she is. Her whole gag with her love for anything related to medicine/poisons is just executed so well. And I literally have a seperate folder just to store all the screenshots of the faces Maomao makes 🗿 Shes 100% the reason I kept reading after finishing the anime.
Maomao aside, I still think the rest of the cast are quite interesting in their own right, especially Jinshi and Consort Gyoukuyo, and their dynamic with Maomao is just so fun to watch. I will say that despite how the Apothecary Diaries seems a lot like an SOL, the story arcs tie together very well, and there are some genuinely emotional/plot heavy arcs that don't seem befitting of an SOL series, especially considering the setting is set in Ancient China, where cruel activities were rampant, like slavery and mistreatment of servants. Overall, TAD was a pretty damn enjoyable watch/read for me, but for those not too sure, I'd recommend giving the anime a watch, and if it isn't to your liking, no need to read the manga, as it follows a similar trajectory.
TLDR: Maomao is goated 🐐 Prob a solidified top 10 fav protagonist when it comes to sheer enjoyability/relatability, and her dynamic with Jinshi and Gaoshun is hella fun to watch. If learning more about how things operated back in Ancient China and Maomao both don't get you hooked, just drop the series, since the narrative structure stays roughly the same throughout. For me personally, TAD is also one of the most consistently enjoyable series I've read, simply cause of Maomao 🤷♂️

Emo. Impact: 7.5/10 (Lakan arc 🤧)
Per. Impact: 5/10 (story itself is just interesting)
Must read/watch?: Yes for the anime, no for the manga if the anime doesnt appeal to you

However ridiculous a goal it may be, it's far better to have one than to drift through life like I am.
