I am a MENA political and cultural analyst with four year's field and residence experience in Jordan and short-term residence and frequent trips to Turkey, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Egypt and Lebanon. My expertise is bolstered by speaking Arabic. I specialise in private military companies, regime security and non-democratic legitimacy when challenged by the Arab Spring.
I have published almost 50 articles on the MENA region and my book, The Privatization of Warfare (Cambridge: Intersentia). I frequently lecture across Europe, Turkey and the UK on my book and the Middle East in general. I am also happily married to a Jordanian.
