the FL EQ 1 works great, because it has a help button. that and it has a VISUAL graph, and each band can change to be anything. quite simple. the best tools for a noob to learn is the ones built into the DAW. there's full tutorials and help menus that come with FLStudio that example and give examples for all the tools.

People don't think of mics in these terms but your voice and the mic have built in "eq profiles". If you record in a properly treated room with a quality mic that sounds good on your voice you'll have a lot less work to do in the DAW. Don't just EQ because you think you "should". Train your ears and EQ with purpose.
