For me, in first grade, some clarinet players came into my classroom and played some stuff and I really liked the sound so I promised myself I would play that. Still can't believe I remembered lol. Best promise I ever made.

I chose the clarinet because when the band teachers came to teach us different instruments, I was the best at the clarinet, and now I play clarinet and I love it!!!

I picked trumpet cause of the one solo that they play before every UGA home game. It has been my dream to do that since I heard it for the first time in 2nd grade. I am now a senior in high school(trumpet for 8 years) waiting on the decision on my UGA application, so I can try and finish that dream.

I was originally a trombone because I got picked for it. I switched to the tuba in a month because I wanted valves. And I realized you get to sit down in concert band. I am now in high-school marching band.

We did a instrument test where we had to try to make a noise on all of the mouthpieces and for percussion we had to follow the beat that our band director played. I ended up with two choices. Trombone or euphonium. I chose trombone as my instrument and because the euphonium looked too hard for me to learn so I chose the trombone because it looked “easy”

I picked bassoon bc i was told it was for people who liked to stand out, it was more difficult, and i had big hands. 7 years later I played Mozart's bassoon concerto in front of an orchestra for a full ride scholarship for music therapy. Covid ruined the scholarship but i still play 4 years later on track for my nursing.

I was originally going for the orchestra but the teacher wasnt there, so the band director told me to go to horn. Best decision of my life💖

I play bassoon. started on flute, and no I'm not gay. then my band teacher who is a processional bassoonist asked me to play bassoon cause my school had just bought a new one. I didn't know how easy the flute was until I started playing bassoon.

I picked trombone because I fell in love with it when I was holding it when my beginning band class was passing old instruments around. Taking oboe this year as well because the sound sounded so beautiful.
(I realize I can just play any instrument if I learn the fingerings because I know bass clef and treble clef and everything else you need to know)
