Oh, and bring a buddy. Nothing illegal about creating a prepared position out in the boonies, there's ways to make it fun.
Get a paper topo map of your area and use a compass to plan location you wish to confront the adversary on ground you choose. Plan infil/exfil, bring 48hrs of clothes, food, your ruck, hike in and dig your position as night falls, when you finish at about 0300 (or later, usually) rest. When the sun rises do shooting drills, veg craft, trench clearing, mine planting, dig in more, do more exercises (LIKE FIRST AID) it's everyone's least favorite but the most important these aren't the GWOT years anymore you can't rely on medevac or a corpsman. Practice tourniquets, CPR, making an impromptu stretcher or splints, practice fireman carry.
Night 2 do a dark patrol near your enemies position, drill hot exfil back to enemy positions, sleep, next day do wrapup and brush up on anything you forgot. My recommendation would be small unit tactics basics, abush, and any maneuver warfare fundamentals, it's really fun doing all the easy shit but it won't ever help you in the suck. You should always be challenging yourself and be realistic the most successful things are usually the least sexy like ambush and insurgency being a civilian with zero formal training sans some internet info. It will give you the best chance especially when fighting a force with superior firepower or numbers.
The force that can outmaneuver the other will usually be successful despite being outgunned and outmanned centuries of military study prove this.
Get.... books.... on the subject and READ THEM... there are A LOT of cocky larpers out there that will never touch SOPs and publications but if you're serious and aren't just planning on doing GI Joe Boyscouts or airsofting in the future you need to study more than youtube.
Most of these things can be acquired online or in surplus stores, my favorites are the publications on counterinsurgency, SEALS doctrine, ISW documents, books on the sandinistas and vietcong aka guerrilla warfare, military mountaineering. There is a veritable treasure trove of information out there that is believe it or not available to everyone but nobody ever uses it as it's too hard to drill or they don't understand it.
Good luck.

Should dig a trench before learning to clear one. Also get inert grenades from surplus and practice throwing around bends and dugouts
