These last few days, I have been visiting a few Christian channels that have been discussing the tragedy of Steve Lawson's failing. It is such a mess and so many Christians, many of them Calvinists, are just shattered by his betrayal of not only his wife and ministries but most importantly, the stain his sin has cast on our Savior. It is heartbreaking regardless of which angle you view it from, and we need to keep all involved in prayer. Sadly, what I have witnessed is man after man saying Lawson couldn't have done anything otherwise than act this way because of EDD. They are so willing to pass over this, some declaring it not even adultery despite his marriage of 40+ years. I was actually on a site that totally blamed the woman, calling her a Jezebel and Lawson, the victim, all without any knowledge of any specifics. One man even blamed Lawson's wife stating she should have known, and everyone knows that younger women are more beautiful than older women so of course he strayed. These are Christian men! I am so saddened by all of this but it truly highlights the destructive nature of EDD and by association, Calvinism. It is no small wonder the church is in such disarray. I am so thankful for your channel, Dr. Flowers. It is a place where God and His divine nature are held and preached in the highest regard as is right and just. Where the Bible not the WCF is quoted and upheld. Blessings šššāļøā

Agree, thereās no salvific determinism in this verse
vs 28 we know all things God works for Good
For who?
Those who love Him, in other words those who choose to love Him.
Are what?
Called to His purpose.
Who are called to His purpose? Those who choose to Love Him.
Then.
For those who God forknew (still speaking of those who are called, Ie those who choose to love God).
Are what?
Conformed to the image of His son and predestined, called, justified and glorified.
So who is conformed to the image of the son and predestined, justified and glorified?
Those who choose to love God.
In other words those who choose to love God are predestined to be justified and glorified.
So what is predestined?
The conformation to the image of His son and the justification and glorification, for who?
Those who choose to love God.

Remember that Romans 8:28 uses synergism in the literal Greek, not deterministic monergism as Calvinists erroneously claim in all things, especially regeneration. God works with our wills as believers to call us to a closer, protected walk with Christ. God also calls sinners to obey the Gospel. This is because He desires none to perish but to believe in His Son Jesus Christ.

He are two of the verses Leighton that you may have never read before or forgotten.
1 āThe LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand: āIsaiah 14:24. For the LORD of hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul it? and his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?āIsaiah 14:27 KJV
2 āRemember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:ā Isaiah 46:9-10 KJV

Pauls use of proof text should be understood in Romanās 8:28 with DT 30-31
The blessing ( life ) the curse (death)
We also canāt divorce this from Romans 7:25, 8:6, 8:9
8:29 is not a verse on soteriology , rather it is mentioning the past works of the Prophets, all tenses described are all past tense, nothing in this verse is mentioning future or present tense.
8:26-39 should be understood as a guarantee of Gods promise to those who put their faith in Christ and accept his free gift of Grace and the free gift of Grace is God being active, we must in return be faithful āfaithā by us working to demonstrate this faith, not to earn salvation but to demonstrate our hope and trust in God. Notice 8:39 nothing can separate us from this love but it does state that we ourselves canāt be the ones to separate ourselves from this Love.

Romans 8:28 kjv
"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose."
First of all there is no "in Christ" in this verse.
2nd, It says: to them who are the called according to his purpose.
This verse is referring to a special kind of people. They are the called according to the purpose of God. They are no other but the elect of God.
Which means, all things work out for good to the elect of God..

it says according to his purpose. he also says iām romanās 8 i donāt pray for the world but the ones you have given me. given! he also says i do not pray for the world but the ones you given me and those are the ones justified and gloried. so explain that one. he also says when Rebecca was pregnant with Jacob and he saw before they had done anything good or bad Jacob I loved, but esau i hated in this case that election might stand. he also says I will have mercy on whom I want. I will have compassion on whom I want and I will harden whom I want. for this very purpose, I raised up pharaoh so that my power may be known throughout the Earth. Pharaoh had no control. It was set for him. It also says in Romans, 11 salvation was for the Jews only but when God opened it up to the Gentiles, they rejoice at this and the ones that were appointed to salvation became saved what does appointed mean it was already set. Donāt pervert the scripture.
