I still found them surprisingly romantic when put together as a trilogy. I'm really glad how straightforward each message was, and to hear how the narrator of the story has changed and feel so nervous about what a relationship could mean is relatable and sweet.

As an aromantic, I related to turning out 1 so hard because it touched on so many different themes, and it was a bit of a gut punch to have a song called "turning out part ii" that was exclusively about romance. It felt like it recontextualized a lot of the first song in a really reductive way.
Now that a couple of years have passed, I think I've come around on the songs and their message. They're never my favorite songs on their respective albums, but I respect them.
