if someone is willing to believe in something so blatantly at odds with the factual truth of objective reality, they have already given up on anything resembling accuracy and don't care if what they believe is truth or not. Growing up in a religious cult, my beliefs were affirmed by persecution and mockery. It was an insular community formed by the "circle the wagons" mentality, the whole world against us worldview. Mockery and derision from outsiders was part of the script.
What didn't fit this script as well were outsiders that were civil, treating us with repect as they earnestly listened during conversations about religious matters. They didn't contradict the script exactly, but they didn't confirm we were the One True Religion the way that ridiculers did.
I'm not saying mockery is always wrong. Clever humor can point out gaping holes in the cult's beliefs effectively. I'm just saying, please don't be hostile jerks about it.

The smart ones in that group will wonder why they are being mocked and might do some research. I became a deconstructed Christian by getting the courage and curiosity to look outside Christianity.

The ones openly defending mockery, better have the same attitude when it comes to religions and pseudosciences (Christianity, Islam, astrology, numerology) that poisons the human intellect just as bad or worse, in the case of religion, as flat earth does

What if that community mocks and disrespects you? Calling you names and making life hell for you as you take care of you 90 yo mom with dementia. Telling you vaccines will hurt her etc. these types of videos never talk about the years of trying to talk to these people only to be met with a brick wall or anger. She can give them the ārespectā she thinks they deserve. I cannot.
