Exactly! For example, I was thinking about hiking as a hobby but then I started to think about other's options. Like what others think of hiking & for what reasons hikers love hiking. Then I realised, I don't need to know why others love it. Looking for conformity usually kill the initial spark of longing in the first place. You forget the real reason you wanted to do something & instead acquire others people's reason of doing something & fulfill those. Don't live through others.

I am autistic and have suffered because I don't take other people's opinions seriously enough. That is why I was bullied in school. People are made outcasts for ignoring other's opinions. Society seems to be held together by a glue of other people's opinions. Maybe for regular people ignoring opinions is a good idea. For outsiders it can be dangerous.

To take the opinion of someone who knows what they're talking about, or whose good opinion you value into consideration is wise.
That said, the less humans are affected by the results of their opinions, the more opinionated we tend to become.
Make sure you know what you're talking about and how your actions are going to affect yourself and others, and be open to new information, then do what you believe is the right thing.

Yea its a weird thing. Valuing the perceptions of others can be a very powerful thing in todays world. It can drive someone to great heights, great accomplishments. But also it can damage you, or the lack of concern over what anyone thinks can cause you to be void of legitimate ambition. So its like you have to have the right balance of regard and disregard for the perceptions of others and what they mean to you. A strong need to Impress, prove, yet resilient against the detrimental effects of criticism, hate, envy etc. I think this boils down to how you perceive yourself, if you know what you are and what u can do, no one can alter that, so the opinions of others are only interpreted in ways that benefit you.

Follow your path, make your mistakes, and learn your lessons. Life will be difficult sometimes and you'll face judgement regardless of what path you follow, so you might as well follow the one you truly want to be on.
