I taught Zumba classes for about 2 years, and I had many ladies in their 60s, 70s and even 80s, and they had a more active social life than I did. I was in my early 30s. 😂 They inspired me to get out and live my life more. Many of them were retired, but they were taking Zumba, line dancing, traveling, etc. You are so right, Kay! I completely agree! 👍😊

It's true that older people are more disrespected than their younger counterparts. I notice it at stores and even at church.

I'm 68 and I didn't leave the house for two years because I hate wearing a mask, which my town required. I had my groceries delivered and my mail picked up. Before that, I didn't have my own car for 5 years, so I only went someplace when my husband was willing to drive his car (a manual, which I can't drive), and that wasn't much. I'm trying to work up to going out more alone, but I'm so out of the habit that it's really hard.

Kay, I will be 59 in September and I couldn’t agree with you more. I’m not ready to phone it in yet either. We have plenty of experience, wisdom and encouragement to offer those around us. I think the same thing. I wish more women (and men) would take pride in how they look, but it seems to be such a casual world these days. I work a customer service job but every single day I put on my make up, do my hair (or wear a wig 😉), and wear freshly pressed, clean, coordinating clothes. Even my managers don’t do this 🤷♀️ *oh, and one morning I was teased by half the crew because I iron my shirts!

It’s unfortunate that western culture, at least in the US, doesn’t value and respect older people. We do have much to say and so much to offer the world. Older women often become almost invisible to our society. We have to fight to change this.
