Harper got his Economics master's degree and then joined the Libertarians. If you read the works of Friedman or Hayek , etc. (whom Harper obviously approved of the most at that time, changing his mind slightly later) , critically asking 'Where's the math to back this up?', 'is this a statement of faith, or is it verifiable?' and 'what does history show happened anytime these were applied?' (and actually learn the history, looking past the 1st time you see 'Economic Miracle' of Pinochet's GDP growth, and at the actual impact on the countries and people it's been tried on), you quickly become disenchanted. The person might as well have said, 'You forgot to mention that Harper got sucked into a moronic economics based cult for a while.'
