This sign was put up in 1997 for the purpose of stopping gay hookups, not as a safety measure. I understand that this is just a joke but please take the time to read into a situation before spreading misinformation and hate. Remember, if you dislike something, find out more, nothing worse than unjustified hate and you might even realise you were mistaken :)

Itโs actually not unsafe to do u turns in those areas. Gay people used to cruise up and down specific streets in their cars looking for a hook up without having to go to a bar. But then the u turn signs were put in place to in effect make it illegal to cruise on those streets
