You're very right! A social media content platform really has no built-in community. But for what it's worth I really enjoy your book discussions, you seem to have very constructive and thoughtful things to say about a lot of books, even the silly ones!

yeah, its always bothered me that people call "booktok" (etc) a "community" (and then when something happens, go, 'I'm disappointed in this community') because really it's just smaller groups under a larger umbrella. I understand it's the easiest way to address the entire group (and express a surface level idea of solidarity) but yeah... real community is so much more than a group of popular creators and random online fans 😢

I’ve been really enjoying your channel because you bring honest, different, refreshing and fun content. I don’t think BookTube should be one mould fits all, your community will find you and vice versa! You’re doing great

I'm proud to be a part of your bookish community, D. I hope the holidays have treated you well this year. :)

I’ve been following a number of booktubers for about 6 years, and I recently subscribed to your channel. I find your content interesting, different, and surprising at times. I look forward to seeing what you do next. Please, don’t try to conform. Do what makes you happy.

I get the thoughts and feelings on having to talk to people and make the effort to engage or interact in order to build a community. There's something inauthentic about it sometimes, especially if a person is an introvert or if a person doesn't have enough energy (or social battery) to talk to or to chat with people. Sometimes some of us just want to talk about why we like a novel, a poem, etc.

I'd say take it slow. Don't force it if you don't want to build a community or if you don't feel like talking to people. Maybe this channel of yours can be a space for outsiders like myself who don't conform to or fit in in the perceived "standard".

big mood on how much disdain you put on the words "talk to people" lol. but I've made some booktok content and totally understand what you mean! especially when there are rapidly changing trends and brand new books with big hype that you "have" to keep up with. and I'm just over here finally catching up on the Grishaverse and wanting to talk about it
