The only civil aviation who grounded the 350 was the one from Qatar…..and in the middle of the pandemic when planes were not flying….it’s the only way they found to make money….

Glad it's resolved. But the very fact that a supposed 'safety issue' was resolved monetarily just proves Qatar never saw it as a safety/grounding problem at all.

A very good idea for both companies to resolve it amicably. They both endured some negative public relations by letting it become public. Neither company could afford PR problems, particularly
in these these hard financial times.

if Qatar CAA hadn't played the "safety card" to support the airline ... maybe the dispute would have been sorted out ages ago

Airbus never denied that the issue with the paint degradation needed to be fixed but they could not allow Qatar Airways' claim of suggesting the plane not being secure due to this. In my humble opinion the decisive blow was the ultimatum given by the UK judge to Qatar Airways to produce the alleged comms between themselves and their regulator, who they were claiming that was acting on its own volition in deciding to withdraw the air-worthiness certificate from the planes with paint surface degradation in the first place. QA was blubbering all sorts of nonsense for months about their regulator assessing that the plane was unsafe to operate, but failed to produce any proof because there was none to produce, in the first place. This coupled with the smart contract management from Airbus having QA’s signature on a document with that sneaky clause about their right to proceed with the cancellation of the A321neos, strong-armed QA into threwing in the towel at the end.

You should have seen the dreamliner I flew in to Nairobi recently... the wings were full of tape to keep the paint from peeling further.... its not just airbus that has paint issues

So, grown ups prevailed, and Qatar found use for those A-350s they thought they won't need.
