I once was in a mall with my mom, then I saw a lady drop money, it was a notable amount (I don't remember exactly how much) I didn't even think, i just picked it up, caught up to her and gave it back. My mom wasn't exactly pleased, but it was my natural reaction.

First, how do I know itās $250?! Iām in a major metropolitan area, if someone drops cash/check/or credit card, DONāT TOUCH ITā¼ļø That is a SETUP, and you are about to be played! You hand them the money and they will say they dropped more than that. Or their whole wallet is missing but YOU only returned the one credit card. Or āexcuse me, you just made an online purchase with my cardā and there you are arguing with a random stranger and who knows who is recording you.
But really, in this fake scenario, donāt count the money ā donāt temp yourself by knowing the amount. You see it fall, say āhey!ā really loud and point to it exactly where it fell.

Iād give it back to the person who dropped it. If I didnāt see anyone dropping it then Iād wait around for 15 minutes for someone to come looking for it and then if nobody comes Iād walk away from it with the money. Hey , turning it over to police is just a bad idea.
