David, their goal is not peace and coexistence. Did you completely forget that?

Never oppose the underdog. Justice is non negotiable, but inevitably served by The Creator.

I wonder, why during Hamas reign they don't try to implement economic policy that spurs growth and productivity among the Palestinian people? Why not invite foreign investment especially from Arab countries to invest, open factory that build products and employed Palestinians? Is that happening at all?

Except this has been planned for years given the extensive underground and above ground infrastructure

The problem with their gamble is that they became ground zero. If they maintained the previous status quo before the attack there could be a brighter picture. They under estimated the response of Israel

"Palestine is not free" In other words, we don't have all of Israel. As long as they think in those impossible terms, they will never be "free"

The idea of occupation is also ridiculous when you look at the facts and history. The Westbank for instance was offered as one area for Arabs in the partition plan but they rejected it so why do people, at the same time, consider it theirs now and that Jews are "settling" there? Sorry, you can't have it both ways. Just because the UN majority Muslim countries says it's occupation doesn't mean it is and should not be taken seriously.

Synopsis: Hamas leadershi wanted to "rock the boat" because the struggle was stalled out & people were complacent.

I would personally add that the Palestinian cause was fading in the eyes of neighboring Arab countries as more were potential signatures to the Abraham Accords. The accords are on hold and under stress due to Oct7 savage provocation.

Hamas must have thought that, by taking hostages, Israel wouldn't react as Israel would have accepted any compromise to get back the hostages. . Then Hamas would have been able to " negotiate" and ask Israel to go back to the 1967 border and demand even more. They didn't count with the courage, the strength , the intelligence ,the resilience of Netanyahu and the IDF. The reasoning also that if Hamas did it once, it will do it again. Hamas had to be defeated.

To put it in context, Americans can relate: If the Mexican Drug Cartels invaded Arizona, killed 45,000 citizens & taken 3,000 hostages what would Americans want our government do? That is the proportion in terms of our population to Israel.
