You guys have nailed the spell effects for Harry Potter. I have always been annoyed/frustrated because EVERY SINGLE TUTORIAL on youtube for harry potter spells either look like fireworks, swirling around or shooting off like roman candles, or it's the lightning/clashing effect (which only happened because HP and V's wands were brothers, this doesn't make sense when I see that in anybody's short films). So when I was trying to figure out the effect, I gave up on tutorials and started looking at the movies frame by frame (especially the end of the 6th one) and realized spells like stupify are basically a blue muzzle flash, and a lot of the other attack spells are very quick and snappy like that, only lasting maybe 3 frames. There's no way a wizard battle should be glowing balls flying slowly towards people, because they'd just be able to block it or step aside easily. It's super cheesy every time I see people doing that in their films. It needs to almost be like a gunfight, with spells snapping at eachother quickly, and they have to thing fast to deflect it. Obviously there's fire spells, floating spells, and other stuff that might be used, but for the base battle spells like expelliarmus, stupify, flipendo, protego to block those, etc, it should be quick and snappy.
Anyways, that's my mini rant. I just don't understand how you can make a "harry potter spell effect" tutorial but then not even look at the movies for reference on how the effect really looks.
You guys have absolutely nailed it though. All of your spells look awesome, realistic and movie accurate.
