I’ve always run my systems for many years. My main gaming rig is 2019 MB, CPU and RAM. I do have a new GPU though. HTPC and home office pc’s are Haswells!
Because of this, I nearly always have a set of RAM, and extra SSD and HDD (for my server), and in the case of my Server a replacement MB that is exactly the same (too much work goes into setting up a media server). And of course I always have a backup GPU. Every one of these components has saved me over the years.

Kept all my old parts waiting for my nerd nephew to realize he wants to build a PC. The day finally came - will be getting new parts for him, but using my old rig to tear down and reassemble for learning and confidence building.

Hey Zach, I jumped from an i5 8600k and a gtx 960 to a Ryzen 7 7700x and an rtx 4070, it was so worth it

Yes I always keep parts for backup. We have 6 PCs at home , 3 of us work with our PCs, so we can't wait if a part breaks because of work. I usually have a full PC as backup and an extra GPU just in case.
