All of the spiritual gifts are for the building up of one another. "Helping others" is a greater gift. Speaking in a tongue is good but without someone to interpret, and no one to understand, that person in the church Paul says must pray between themself and God.
Why?
The gifts are meant for the edification of the church. The uplifting and building up of others to the glory of God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

I still think that this verse talks about the importance of love, rather than the usage of gifts.
With respect, I believe the verse sets a standard where love is above anything, even gifts. (Jesus’s ministry also indicates this)
