Hi, I'm a domestic abuse survivor & a rape survivor. You could say, that I've lived through some pretty fucked up shit. But, I can promise you that if it wasn't for the darkest, most very gruesomest of comedy & those glorious extremely offensive jokes... I'd have tightened that rope & jumped, years ago.
When a stand up comic cracks a dark joke, like Matt just did in his special, it's as if he's put his arm around you & is saying to survivors, "What you went through was horrible & fucked up. I don't like it either. Let's laugh about it & lighten your mental load just a teeny, tiny bit, okay?" And honestly, it's all he can do, it's enough & I LOVE him for making me laugh about it. Seriously, dark humour makes me belly laugh & it eases all tensions away for a little while.
Here's a test you can do... Ask ANY soldier, veteran, EMT, police officer, nurse, doctor, firefighter, mortician, veterinarian, coroner, prison guard or social worker (that's out in the field), "What gets you through your worst & most gruesome days?" If they're being completely honest with you, they're gonna tell you it's humour. Although, most will hold back, not tell you how very fucking dark it really gets. Cause, THAT is NOT "socially or publicly acceptable"! A real medical doctor that just lost a patient cracking a joke about blood & guts on his shoes? OR An EMT cracking gruesome jokes while scraping a child off the highway after a high speed traffic accident? This IS just how our brains change & cope after we humans experience real life trauma. Most of us function differently, & will continue to do so for as long as necessary. It's how our minds protect us & help us get through it.
So, let's finally STOP this bull shit of lusting after getting to be offended on somebody else's behalf. Thanks!
EDIT: And "Trigger Warnings" are so much worse than the actual thing you're gonna say or talk about. They make a victim stop & force them to think about the thing. Instead of just saying it like a regular person in a regular conversation & moving along. It causes anxiety about what you might say! Can we stop that BS too?

I enjoyed every minute of his special. The bit in the beginning and how he ended it perfectly sum up why I like his comedy. He doesn't give a shred of a sh it about what anyone thinks, and I applaud it.
There's a song by Prof called Butterfly Knife, and it says it best: I'm offended that everyone's so easily offended.

As a person special needs the guy setting a link for the complaints as a special needs helmet is the funniest thing ever in my opinion
