OMG, Veronica speaks for me and many others! Unfortunately, you can’t ignore that small print on many employment agreements…”and other tasks/duties/responsibilities, as needed”! That little phrase entitles them to add to your workload “as needed”without compensation! 😂

The real kick in the nuts is when they post a position that is superior to your own. You’ve worked there for years, so you’ve naturally moved your salary up the ladder with 3% annual increases and a firm understanding of the day to day operations. You apply, are rejected, and instead they hire someone externally at a lower cost fresh out of college.
They then ask you to help them get “adjusted” and to essentially train them to do the position you were denied 😂

I was a trainer and got paid an extra dollar an hour. When I trained incoming staff, some of them went on to become leads. I couldn't advance there, so I used the training experience to secure a supervisor role elsewhere. The trick is to use businesses the way they use employees. Volunteer for as many advanced opportunities as you can and if it doesn't help you move forward, go elsewhere. I recently transferred to another division within the organization and am earning more and now have a flexible schedule and freedom to work remotely.
