I was watching the 1946 NCAA wrestling championships and noticed this interesting exchange worth highlighting where the bottom wrestler secures a double wrist lock/kimura and begins to apply it before the footage skips as the referee seemingly interrupts and forces a reset. The footage has been colourised and remastered.

We literally have Ancient Greek art depicting heel hooks and double wrist locks. None of these grappling techniques are new, I’ve even seen an ancient temple carving from Polynesia showing a properly applied rear naked choke.

He's not trying to hit a hook. The DWL was part of amateur CACC at one time and before it devolved to folkstyle

Haha, kid probhably had a 'catch as catch can' wrestler as a coach. Its history and lineage is interesting. That sadly died out. It occasionally gets shouted out by people like josh barnett. And was a big influence on sakuraba.

Why do you call it a double wristlock
It is a shoulder lock

Um, that's not a wristlock. Kimura is technically and armlock. Wristlock would be aikido stuff.
