In an interview with young Brits, Rushi Sunak made a gaffe, claiming, "I'm a coke addict. A total coke addict." He quickly caught himself, a second too late, and immediately revised his statement to clarify that he was talking about Coca-Cola...and not cocaine.
Despite his revision...cocaine plays a big part in Rushi Sunak's UK society, as it often makes its way from Albanian hands in London, to the hungry noses of hard-partying, cocaine-loving Londoners.
But it's not just Londoners who love to have a whiff of the white stuff. The drug is arguably as popular far north of London. In small communities, that lay in the middle of the ocean...communities like Stornoway. A small town located in the Outer Hebrides. Miles away from the UK land mass.
How does the drug makes its way to this island community? Your guess is as good as mine. But as it moves its way past prying eyes...it finds its way into locals bars. Where it's used heavily...so much so that a local Stornoway bar erected a sign in the men's bathroom, warning would-be-cocaine-snorters they would be banned for life from the bar if caught doing lines within the bathroom (off the toilet).
Whether the sign works or not...I'm not sure. But if nothing else, it's a reflection of the prevalence of the drug (cocaine) on the island. And in the UK as a whole.
