On the most recent episode of Not Your Globetrotter my guest, Amir Ghannad shared some wonderful insights that I think are quite valuable for living abroad which I would like to add on to just a little bit... Moving abroad as an expat/immigrant can be a thrilling experience, but it can also bring with it its own set of challenges; culture shock for example. This is a normal part of the process of adjusting to a new way of life, and it’s important to be prepared for the ups and downs that come with it. To overcome culture shock, focus on the facts, not the ‘scary stories’ you may tell yourself. Take a deep breath, go for a walk, and be aware of what the facts are and anchor yourself. Embrace the differences and have a positive attitude as you navigate your new life as an expat/immigrant (or even digital nomad). The key to success is patience and an open mind as you explore your new surroundings and create a fulfilling life abroad.

to move to portugal with the New year...
Culture shock? That I had when I immigrate to the States in the '70's from Germany 😅

After 10 years, I left on a vacation to Italy . I was there for 30 years.
Now I have been in Switzerland for already 10 years, here everything works really great but if you want to be yourself (as a foreigner) FORGET IT.

I would rather have authentic human connection like in Italy but wouldn't want to go back there as much as I loved it.

I am sure Portugal is going to be my final destination, as I am armed with patience, positive feelings, and a loving ❤️
