I'm normally a fan of Vox, but what's with the gaslighting in this video?
How can you in good faith make the argument that a type of dog that's been selectively bred for aggression for 200 years is "not inherently dangerous" compared to other dogs that have not? Obviously any dog can be dangerous, but saying that pitbulls are no more dangerous than small dogs because both may bite at similar rates is just absurd. Pomeranians aren't maiming and killing people. Similarly, show me all the videos of golden labs randomly (and relentlessly) attacking neighbors.
If you're trying to overturn the commonly held belief that pitbulls are more dangerous than other dogs, the burden of proof is on you, and a cherry-picked quote from 23 years ago is not sufficient evidence.

"First, the pit bull is quicker to anger than most dogs, probably due to the breed's unusually high level of the neurotransmitter L-tyrosine. Second, pit bulls are frighteningly tenacious; their attacks frequently last for 15 minutes or longer, and nothingāhoses, violent blows or kicksācan easily stop them." - city-journal

Although not directly mentioned, there is an aspect that makes pitbulls inherently dangerous and that is bite.
Pitbulls bite. It's going to be far more hazardous than a small dogs. So while it's true, small dogs and pitbulls may bite at the same rate, it doesn't mean the bite has the same hazard.

Alongside what people are saying about these dogs being bred to be more aggressive, I would also say that the owners of pit bulls probably have more not aggressive, but dominant personalities. You donāt see 80 year old grandma Meredith owning a pit bull for instance. But that 30 year old guy wearing a tank is probably more likely to own one instead of a Pomeranian.

Retrievers were bred to retrieve, and do so instinctively. Pointers were bred to point, and do so instinctively. Sheepdogs were bred to herd, and do so instinctively. Huskies were bred for the cold, and love snow instinctively. But pitbulls who were bred to bite and latch on to other animals? Well clearly their breed has no effect on their behavior!!!!
