Gurllll lemme tell you, itās a trip. Iāve experienced this both for ADHD and Anxiety - I think for me itās created an impetus to really focus on coping strategies, but also really throws you off!
I always keep like a backup couple weeksā worth of my medication so that I can taper off if necessary - and, otherwise, I find that good music with a consistent rhythm and caffeine helps my sort of re-center ADHD wise. I also like situate myself in a space to avoid distractions and set realistic goals and expectations for myself - and Iām pretty open with my team at work and friends about my ADHD, so I do communicate if I may be a little more scatterbrained due to med shortages. š

Iām fortunate enough to not have run into this problem yet (Autism and ADHD here on Adderall XR), but these companies need to get it together. People going without some of these medications could kill them. Please take care of yourself during this time as much as possible, I know how exhausting it is to be without your medication.

Try and see if your pharmacy has other strengths of your meds so you can add them up to your normal after talking with your dr. My kids and I are all on ADHD meds because weāre all AuDHD, we had to go two weeks without themā¦ it was basically chaos. We couldnāt keep up with our schedule and they actually had to take a few days off from school because we just couldnāt function.

Matt is an example of an actual ADHD patient. Being unable to focus, changing subjects, that's lot's of us, but you can see Matt is truly hyperactive. The changes in vocal tone, the lack of blinking, excessive dopamine...
...Matt is clearly not the Matt we know here...
...keep this in mind because lots of people claim mental illness when they don't have it because it's gone from being taboo to be being chic and cool.
And with not being able to get meds, I see them as NEEDING them, like food or rent, and being proactive. If my Dr says "See you in three months", I'm lining up my next three months AFTER THAT...
...don't let it sneak up on you. Get in front of it. You're a patient number to an office worker. Some will see you as a person, some will see you the same as a trash collector sees a trash can. Their job and if they miss you, so what...
...own your treatment. Your life depends on it.

Hope you get your medication Matty! Here in Argentina, there is a shortage of pills and specific medication for Neurodivergents. In my case, due to my Autism and Anxiety, I take a pill (prescripted by my psychologist) in order to sleep well. However, when I take the prescription, it takes at least two weeks for me to get the pill.
Also, idk for people how it would work with people who have ADHD, but in my case when I want to relax I listen to music, take a walk outside or take a nap.
Sending you love to you, Lissy and the kids! Take careā¤ļøā¤ļø

Iām a pharmacist (for an independent pharmacy), and please know that we have no control over supply! Over-prescribing and supply chain issues during the pandemic, along with insurance formulary policies have made sourcing these meds a nightmare. But know that itās not just stimulants - amoxicillin suspension has been difficult to source for over a year as well. Make sure you remember this next time you go to your local pharmacy!

Been here dozens of times (taking Adderall XR and being unable to get a refill). I have inattentive ADHD, so that affects things.
Vitamin D -- 10,000IU per day. This is good in the winter months anyway. Take with a high protein/fat meal.
5-HTP -- take with green tea. There's a bunch of body/brain chemistry that explains what this does, but it basically helps boost the serotonin in your brain (avoid this if you're on an antidepressant)
Drink matcha -- not sure about you, but the peaks and valleys of coffee has me spiking and crashing through the day. Drinking matcha works almost like a slow release caffeine that helps level your energy.
But above all else -- go easy on yourself and just rest up if that's what your body says. Sometimes our ADHD meds turn us into super focused task masters that our non-medicated selves can't possibly compete with.
Best of luck

I hate how companies think itās ok that people go without these meds. Itās not fun and they think weāll be just fine without them. Theyāre not a luxury, to some their vital
